Fukushima Prefecture is best known in football circles as the birthplace of Hitoshi Sasaki, but the city has produced 15 documented association football players in total. Other notable players include Takayoshi Ono, Katsuyuki Saito, Naoki Matsushita and Takuji Yokoyama. Among them are 13 male and 1 female players. Documented players span more than 115 years, from 1891 to 2006.
