Kanagawa Prefecture is best known in football circles as the birthplace of Yūki Mutō, but the city has produced 397 documented association football players in total. Other notable players include Masao Uchino, Yasuo Suzuki, Shuhei Terada and Tadao Kobayashi. Among them are 370 male and 26 female players. Documented players span more than 128 years, from 1884 to 2012.
