Kutaisi is best known in football circles as the birthplace of Ramaz Shengelia, but the city has produced 65 documented association football players in total. Other notable players include Budu Zivzivadze, Tengiz Sulakvelidze, Revaz Dzodzuashvili and Giorgi Gocholeishvili. Documented players span more than 90 years, from 1914 to 2004.
