Pohang is best known in football circles as the birthplace of Lee Dong-gook, but the city has produced 17 documented association football players in total. Other notable players include Oh Beom-seok, Yoon Jong-gyu, Kim Jin-gyu and Park Won-jae. Most players were born between 1979 and 2000.
