Yıldırım district is best known in football circles as the birthplace of Zeki Çelik, but the city has produced 20 documented association football players in total. Other notable players include Ali Akman, Serkan Kurtuluş, İlhan Depe and Yusuf Sertkaya. Most players were born between 1989 and 2007.
